It’s the little beginnings, the small tugs of the heart…
Throughout childhood, I loved being able to express my creativity, whether it was through art, music, or writing.
Stepping into what feels like “full blown adulthood” and starting my career as a chiropractor, I have the opportunity to express art, science, and philosophy every single day while working with my patients. I love every moment, even having space for gratitude in the difficult moments.
Enter in Little Fern Print Shop. Born from my love for art, crafts, stationary, and the like. Wishing to share the corners of my heart and my inner world with you. I love the process of art and the soul vibes of the vendor community: the sharing of art, passions, and aesthetics.
Through this shop, I wish to share the expressions of my creativity, ultimately to reflect my Creator, as it enters into your spaces, your hands, and your homes. I hope you feel touched with each piece that is created with intention, love, and a sense of purpose.
Why the Little Fern?
When trying to come up with a name for my little print shop, I began to think about some of my favorite items, themes, plants of nature. I wanted to find something that was unique to me, something that stood the test of time and something that resonated so deeply with my soul… something that felt like home.
When I think of the word home, several things come up of course. Different houses of the past, specific people, different smells. Above all, the forests of Northern Michigan have their roots deep within my soul. Deep forests, with the ranges of bright greens to the darkest evergreens, stuffed with pines and oaks, mosses, mushrooms, and most importantly… ferns. They would cover the forest floor with their wide leaf span. The plant of many summers spent camping, experiencing life and nature, campouts under the stars, days at the lake, campfire chats, and years of reflections and growth. Memories of these bring tears to my eyes and warmth to my heart. It’s the same warmth I hope to extend to you through my art, the cozy, the vibey, and the deep places.
an ode to the little fern
so loved and so cherished
a little green soul simply unfurling
from once a fiddlehead to stretching out her leaves
the little fern, whose morning dew, damp mosses, and the comforts of home spread throughout her reach
into the deep and cozy places of the world
she extends her warmth to touch your soul
with a kindness and love that whispers to your heart saying,
“you’re home.”
